CHANGES TO WASTE MANAGEMENT FROM 2026

The way waste is recorded and tracked across the UK is changing with the introduction of Digital Waste Tracking (DWT). The new system is designed to make waste information easier to record, share and manage, while improving transparency and helping to tackle waste crime.

At Pinpoint Drainage Services, we are preparing for these changes and working with the waste receiving sites and facilities we use to ensure our waste management and disposal services continue to meet the latest requirements.

WHEN IS DIGITAL WASTE TRACKING BEING INTRODUCED?

The new requirements are being introduced in phases.

From October 2026
Waste receiving sites in England and Wales will be required to record and report the waste they receive using Digital Waste Tracking.

From January 2027
Waste receiving sites in Scotland and Northern Ireland will follow.

From October 2027
Digital Waste Tracking requirements will extend to other organisations within the waste industry, including:

This means organisations involved in transporting, managing or arranging waste will increasingly need to create, share and manage waste information digitally.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OUR CUSTOMERS?

For customers using Pinpoint Drainage Services for waste removal and associated drainage services, our aim is to make the transition as straightforward as possible.
We are reviewing the requirements and working with the sites that receive the waste we transport to understand how their systems and procedures are changing.
